Busking Stage

BUSKING BARN PERFORMERS NEEDED FOR 10TH ANNUAL PORCUPINE MOUNTAINS MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 10th Annual Porcupine Mountains Music Festival, presented by the Friends of the Porkies will take place August 22 – 24, 2014.  Stage Coordinator, Dale Venema has announced that he is now considering applicants to perform on the festival’s Busking Stage.

The Busking Barn Stage is an all-acoustic (no electricity) site available to both amateurs and professionals. Buskers will not be paid by the Festival for performing, however, tip jars are permitted and scheduled buskers will receive free admission into the festival.

“The busking stage has an informal laid-back vibe” said Venema. “I continue to be amazed at the talent that graces this stage each year and look forward to talking to those interested in signing up.”

Busking stage slots are limited and, if approved, will be scheduled on a first come-first served basis. The deadline for signing up is August 1st  and performers must have their slots reserved by the deadline in order to receive the free admission.

Those interested in signing up for a busking stage slot are asked to call Dale Venema at 906-884-MULE (6853) between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm eastern time and leave your name and telephone number on the answering machine. Venema is well-known as Ontonagon County’s “mule guy” and he can frequently be found at various community events…or plowing the field with his beautiful team of mules.

The ‘busking stage’ is an all acoustic stage and will offer amateurs and professionals the opportunity to play in an intimate setting for tips. Scheduled performers will receive free admission to all three days of the Festival. Sign ups are taken on a first come, first served basis.
