Presented by the Friends of the Porkies

Reaching this decision has been difficult, and our hearts are heavy. The Festival Committee has asked all of the questions, worked through all of the scenarios, and we have concluded that there is no realistic way forward in 2020. At this time, the site of the festival grounds, the Porcupine Mountains Winter Recreation Area, remains closed indefinitely. We also believe that when it is safe for people to begin re-engagement, it will be in stages-- with large gatherings of people being last on the list.

The music festival has always been a good community partner, and the health and well being of our attendees, performers and volunteers is our number one concern. As painful as this is, it is clear that we must act responsibly, cancel for 2020, and shift our efforts to the 16th Annual Porcupine Mountains Music Festival which is scheduled for August 27-29, 2021. Our lineup was nearly complete and it was incredible! As this is a very difficult time for performers with the loss of bookings, efforts are already underway to attempt to retain those same performers for 2021.

The festival will be replacing this year’s purchased tickets with tickets for the 2021 festival. Replacement tickets will be sent to the address on record, prior to the one day sale in December. There is no need to take action to receive these replacement tickets, they will be sent automatically. If you have a change of address, please notify us. The Friends of the Porkies are a 501 (c ) 3 non-profit organization, those wishing to donate their ticket purchases or make a donation towards the music festival are welcome to do so. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding your purchased tickets to us no later than June 30, 2020 by emailing or by calling 906-231-1589.

Rest assured, we will gather to sing, dance, and share good music in the Porcupine Mountains again. We will never forget the impact of COVID-19. We grieve for those who have perished, and mourn with those who have lost loved ones to this virus. We will never forget the economic hardships suffered by so many individuals, businesses, festivals, music venues and our beloved performers. We will never forget the bravery of our front line health care providers, first responders, and essential workers who kept things going. We will never forget the individual sacrifices made for the safety of others.

We will never forget that in 2020, we made the right decision. Wishing you all a safe summer, and sunshine wherever you find it. Until we meet again.
